Fishing Black Canyon Lake
By admin • Apr 21st, 2007 • Category: Fishing ArizonaSince I picked up my first fly fishing rod this last week, I was excited to give it whirl. My family and I headed out to Black Canyon lake and arrived late in the afternoon to do some fishing.
The lake itself is a great place to fish with stocked trout and natural german brown trout as well as trout that were stocked in previous years. The surrounding forest has been scarred from fire and is not the nicest to look at, but that doesn’t matter when you are there to fish. It was an extremely windy afternoon and that made it really difficult for me to learn how to fly fish.
I built a small fire that my eldest daughter Ireland maintained and kept going while my youngest daughter played around in the surrounding trees. Neither of them were really into catching fish, but my wife (the expert fisherman) with her Danny the dinosaur fishing pole managed to land 4 rainbows and let each daughter reel them in so they could get the feel of it. We were using meal worms for bait and the lake was jumping, 4 fish in 2 hours is not a bad haul.

What a nice experience!
Although I never went to Black Canyon lake, I’m sure I can feel the same experience thru your blog post.
